A Unique Immersive Experience

The Canadian Outdoor Leadership Training Program is tailored to students who want to improve their outdoor skills for personal purposes and for those interested in becoming outdoor educators and adventure guides.

Our 100-day semester offers top quality instruction and certification in Sea Kayaking, Rock Climbing, White Water Boating, Canoeing, Mountaineering and Wilderness First Aid.

In Stunning Wilderness Locations

Based out of Strathcona Park Lodge, your outdoor education will take place on and around Vancouver Island on traditional and unceded territories of the First Nations of the Nuu-chah-nulth, Kwakwaka’wakw and Coast Salish traditions.

The classroom is the wild west coast elements – old growth forest, rugged mountains, fast flowing rivers, pristine lakes and the wild open ocean.

With An Adventurous Community

COLT is more than the sum of its certifications. Because of COLT’s immersive design, participants are engaged and challenged in both hard skill development and interpersonal skills through the group experience.

Situated at Strathcona Park Lodge, the busiest outdoor education centre in Canada, COLT students are steeped in the outdoor industry from day one, immersed in our vision to connect our students and guests with each other and the natural world, to build respect for each others’ differences and the natural environment, and to carry what we learn here out into the world to create a positive ripple effect in our communities.

Creating One Unforgettable Semester

Our semester program is the best value for money outdoor leadership training program available today. The compressed format gets you where you want to be faster and it’s all-inclusive so you don’t have to worry about rent and food.

You will gain a broad set of skills across a number of outdoor adventure disciplines and the confidence and leadership skills to step into the industry. Financing is available, and so is a work practicum option.
